Planning out characters and doing character design is always a challenge for me. I either make the character to complex for myself to remember, or I don't like the character at all. This sketch, for instance, I don't know if I'll stick with this. May make another version of this tomorrow.
Well decided to actually quit working at a decent time tonight to pump out a sketch. Feels like every time I start sketching I get an idea to throw it into illustrator, and painter to see what brushes I like more… I think I wasted about and hour in painter, then put the sketch back into photoshop and just forced myself to stick in one application. (Issues)
Not to mention making matters worse, I was looking over some old photoshop character designs, and loved the pencil I was using a couple years ago. Which of course I opened the ABR file and played around with old brushes when I have a million on deck.
The new plan quit thinking of every single application to sketch with.
Here is my continuation of redesigning some of the X-Force characters. I wanted to test out the regular pencil that is stock with photoshop and actually like it quite a bit. I have never really tried the standard photoshop brushes.
I was reading the old X-force #1 and thought how fun a book that was back in the 90′s. I wanted to give the book my own spin and decided to draw Cable for the first character design. I think I will go through the rest of the characters and do my own take. Then possibly redo the issue for fun.
This version of Cable isn’t big enough in my opinion. But I wanted to use some of the modern tech such as a gun strapped to the chest. I should of also added more pouches but this will do for now.
Really enjoy putting down simple line work instead of my typical slop mess. Here is a little character design. Still trying to find the right brush to use in doodles and sketches. I always forget which brush I was using the night before and spend to much time thinking about which one I should use.
