I am still working on this page. I am not too thrilled with this since I didn’t plan or compose the scene at all. (Backgrounds Charlie) It always hurts when you spend most of your time on the characters and totally forget about a background. Lose.
I also realize that I need to make some better pencil brushes for my own sketching needs. The current brushes I use were created a couple years ago, and have a nasty smooth edge. I have enjoyed working with Mischief’s pencil tool and would like to create a similar brush.
It is still fun to create what I can with the time I have. Almost feels as if time goes by way to fast on a daily basis.
Spent most of the day playing with brushes in Photoshop and Painter. I have been trying to mimic the knife tool that painter possesses and replicate that effect and stroke in Photoshop.
I have been fooling around with the blender brush, but also doesn’t have the same feeling as the knife tool. I hope to find a nice balance between the Blend tool and knife tool, so I don’t jump rapidly from application to application.
A small Magnus sketch. Done in Painter 2017 with the 6b pencil. Lag time on moving items and sketching at times makes me move back to applications that respond to command.
Given my strengths in Photoshop, I tend to gravitate towards that application. But realize since Photoshop comes with an excess of tools I will begin to lose track and play with brushes I don’t need to.
I have become interested in Mischief for the fact that it is very simple. No super extravagant brushes and effects where you spend the night playing with the brush strokes. There are only a couple tools to meddle with so there are no distractions while sketching or plotting a scene.
I keep playing around with too many apps and have taken a liking to Made with Mischief. It feels very lightweight and is fast responding. The only issue I have with Painter the lag time, depending on what you’re doing. (Scale)
Right now I am using the demo version of Mischief I think I will go ahead and buy the application today. Hell, it’s only 25 bucks.
Screwed up tonight, I wanted to play with https://www.madewithmischief.com/ and realized I had the demo, not the full version so I wasn’t able to save the image. I took a screenshot of the document, threw it in Photoshop and did a quick trace.
Trying to keep up with the pace and get a sketch in a night so I can get back to actually drawing well again. Practice, practice, practice.
Here I started out in Painter because I love their 6b pencil brush, something that Photoshop don’t do as well. Since I have forgotten how to use Painter, I got stuck and moved back to Photoshop! Cheat!
