I have been to busy with work to pump out any doodles. I find that since I work on a computer all day and all night, it becomes hard for me to sit back down and sketch something out.
I love working with my Wacom, but when your mind is clearing with code and design from the day it becomes so hard to just pick up the stylus. I searched around for my old brushes that I had built a couple years ago and did these random doodles.
I don’t get a chance usually to illustrate my own characters while working on client material. Mainly due to time restraints. I am a slow artist, and it takes me a day or more to do a simple illustration. Since I do about a hundred sketches.
On this illustration, I had a little wiggle room. I can’t explain how much I hate stock illustrations. Not to mention the time you spend looking for the perfect look.
So I penciled this up, traced it in illustrator and added some effects with photoshop. The client loved the character since it had more of a modern “real” person feel.
I decided to buy a new machine, the machine I was using was getting sluggish. My problem is most of my files are HUGE, not because of sheer file size, but the paper or size of the illustration.
Upset to know that MacBook pros, 2015 models can’t be upgraded to 16 gigs of ram unless you do it when you buy it…. apple is starting to piss me off if this machine sucks I’ll go back to the other computer. So currently sketching in the sketchbook instead.
